At the 5th IKPA Conference: Celebrating & Advancing the Power and Leadership of Indigenous Women held 23–27 September, 2025, brought together 157 participants, including 128 women, 29 men, and 51 youth from 16 countries and 53 national, regional and global organizations gathered for one of the largest and most inspiring conferences in AIPP’s history.

Co-organized by Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP), PEREMPUAN AMAN, AMAN Tano Batak, Network of Indigenous Women in Asia (NIWA), and Indigenous Knowledge and Peoples of Asia (IKPA), the conference became a space of solidarity, learning, and collective visioning where Indigenous Women leaders from the Mekong, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia shared stories of resistance, leadership, and hope. This conference is both a celebration and a call to action; an opportunity to spotlight the voices, solutions, and struggles of Indigenous Women and ensure that their leadership is seen, heard, and supported.

Of the many objectives of the conference, one was to adopt the Indigenous Women’s Declaration, The Tano Batak Declaration,a bold statement affirming the rights, roles, and resilience of Indigenous Women in addressing the interconnected crisis of climate change, biodiversity and pollution.
