The present report has a very clear purpose: to make known the situation in which an ethnic minority survives in the Argentine part of the Great Chaco. Having chosen here the Mataco does not imply that this group lives under particular conditions, different from those of the Toba, M'bya, Mapuche, Chorote, Chang, Chulupí, Chiriguanc, Mocoví, etc. This group is, as far as its living conditions are concerned, only an example; I could have chosen any of the other ones, and we would still face the same problem: ethnocide.
