CEDAW: Indigenous women and girls’ rights in Bangladesh

According to Kapaeeng Foundation’s statistics, from January 2007 to September 2016, there have been at least 466 reported incidents of violence against indigenous women and girls in Bangladesh. They face multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination due to their gender, ethnicity, language, religion, class and geographic location.
In an updated report from October 2016, Kapaeeng Foundation, BIWN and IWGIA summarize the laws the country has endorsed in relation to women rights. This documentation will be used to demand the inclusion and respect of indigenous women and girls’s rights in the recommendations to the government of Bangladesh.
