Between 18th and 21st December, 1985, the IIIrd Congress of the Federación Nativa del Río Madre de Dios y Afluentes (FENAMAD) met at the Community of Boca del Inambari, on the banks of the River Madre de Dios in Southeastern Peru. This was the culmination of three years during which the federation has been developing its identity and trying to raise funds. The Congress was supported by Oxfam and brought together 46-re­presentatives from 13 communities.
