Indigenous Peoples and Nations of the Pacific - an Overview

The present issue of Indigenous Affairs deals specifically with indigenous peoples´ issues in the Pacific. IWGIA wishes in this way to draw the attention to the indigenous peoples of Oceania. We have been able to produce this special issue as a result of many valuable personal contacts IWGIA has established over the years. The indigenous peoples of Oceania have a long experience in organizing themselves in order to struggle for their rights on local levels as well as in international fora. The articles in this Indigenous Affairs reflect this high level of organization and the manifold experiences gained from the ongoing struggle - experiences that will he both useful lo and recognized by other indigenous peoples in the rest of the world.
