IWGIA members are a strong and important base of individuals who support our work for the rights of Indigenous Peoples. Membership supports us in the work we do in cooperation with Indigenous Peoples’ own organisations, as well as with like-minded NGO’s, international organisations and our extensive network of experts and partners.

As a member you:

·        will be able to help us raise the visibility of Indigenous Peoples’ rights and IWGIA’s work by spreading the word about urgent issues and important events

·        will receive news and information about IWGIA and our work through our quarterly IWGIA newsletter and member e-mails

·        will get advance digital access to our annual flagship publication: The Indigenous World and get a physical copy of the book upon request

·        will be invited to a thematic members meeting each spring, with input from experts on Indigenous Peoples, including IWGIA Secretariat staff and IWGIA Board members, and where important themes to Indigenous Peoples are up for discussion with our members

·       can participate in Board elections; two members of IWGIA's Board are elected by and among IWGIA members (IWGIA Statutes §35-43)

·        are invited to our member meeting each autumn where the Board and Secretariat present their annual reports. At this meeting, members have the opportunity to express their views concerning the work of the Board and organization. The Members’ Meeting has consultative status and is an advisory body to the Board (IWGIA Statutes § 12).
