Learn more about our organisation:
IWGIA is a global human rights organisation dedicated to promoting, protecting and defending indigenous peoples’ rights. IWGIA was founded in 1968 by anthropologists alarmed about the ongoing genocide on indigenous peoples taking place in the Amazon.
IWGIA's secretariat in Copenhagen is staffed by experts and advisors on the rights of indigenous peoples. We are around 20 full-time employees who work to defend the rights of indigenous peoples.
IWGIA's international board is the highest governing body of the organisation. Knud Vilby is the current chairman of the board. Meet all board members here.
