The Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and Far East (RAIPON) aims for protection of human rights and legal interests of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and Far East of Russia, solution of social and economic problems, environmental and health issues, cultural development and education.

RAIPON was established in 1990 at the First Congress of Indigenous Peoples of the Russian Federation. The association comprises of more than 250.000 indigenous individual members and it is the only umbrella organization representing 41 indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and Far East of Russian Federation. RAIPON is a Permanent Participant to the Arctic Council, has a Special Consultative status under the ECOSOC, and takes part in sessions of the UN related to Indigenous issues regularly.
